Sherri Yvonne Cogdell was born January 24, 1950, to James and Verdine Jenkins in Oklahoma City, OK; and was the second of seven children. She attended Rose Hill Elementary and graduated from Dunjee High School. On January 19, 1970, Sherri was united in marriage to Lewis I. Cogdell, and to this union three children were born. Professing faith in Christ at a young age, Sherri joined The Church of the Living God Temple #23, in Luther, OK. She was a faithful and active member using her talents in many ways included church secretary, vice-president of missions, and choir. Sherri lived life serving the Lord, teaching and leading others into doing his work. She was an esteemed Tax Examiner for the Internal Revenue Service and retired after more than thirty years of service. Sherri departed this life on August 11, 2022. She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband, of fifty-two years: Lewis I. Cogdell, two sons: Lewis M. Cogdell (Christina) and Travis I. Cogdell; one daughter Alisha Houston. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Sherri is also survived by five siblings, Joy Plunket-Weaver, Debra Webb (Thomas), Reginald Jenkins, Brenell Scobey (Keith), and Barry Jenkins (Lisa). Also, four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
