Richard Odell
Carson Sr.
May 26, 1930 — Oct 31, 2019
I was the only child born to Dick Carson and Susie Carter May 26, 1930 in Idabel, Oklahoma. I was fortunate to attend Broken Arrow Elementary School and I graduated from Douglas High School in 1950. After high school, I joined the U.S Army in 1952. During basic training instead of being drafted to the Korean War, I was selected to serve as a Military Police Officer. Afterwards, I volunteered for the Air-Borne School where I learned the art of Jumpmaster. I served my country from 1952 to 1954.
If I were asked what was my greatest accomplishment, it would be without a doubt, my family. I could not have picked a better partner to mother my children than Ernestine. I love them dearly. I lived a simple yet fulfilling life. God blessed me with so much.
I leave to cherish my memory, my wife Ernestine and my six children: Crecetta Herbison, Vicki Gabriel, Vervin Gabriel, Richard Carson, Jr., Cynthia Carson and Dimples Carson; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; my best buddy Rudy Gray and a host of other relatives and friends. My beloved parents Booker T. Powell and Susie L. Powell and my grandson DeAngelo Johnson preceded me in death, Now we are back together again.
John 14: 1-3
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
