Obituary

Ralph "Paul" Sampson was born on July 8, 1954, in Oklahoma City, OK to Curtis and Frankie Sampson (who both precede him in death). He was born second to his identical twin brother Randy Joe Sampson, one of the multiple sets of twins amongst twenty-two Sampson children. At an early age, Paul enjoyed spending time with his twin brother, and living his best life, on his terms. Paul attended Dunjee High School until the doors closed in 1972, ultimately graduating from Star Spencer High School in 1973.

In 1974, Paul enlisted in the Army where he served his country and began his adult life. Paul married Verda L. Griffin and to this marriage he became a father to his first daughter Tamara Lanre' Griffin (who precedes hie in death) and Rhonda Paulette Sampson, thereafter. He later reconnected with his high school friend and married Freda Margaret Grayson-Sampson, the love of his life. They remained committed for over twenty years until her passing on April 20, 2001. To this final union Paul & Freda embraced three children Robert Andre, Randy Dewayne & Monique Chenelle Sampson.

Paul loved to sing, dance, listen to music & watch westerns. One of his favorite pastimes was listening to his police scanner and watching COPS on TV. Paul loved life and enjoyed spending time with his brothers and close friends, talking, laughing, and working on cars. On April 11, 2023, Paul transitioned from this life surrounded by his family, and loved ones. Paul will be missed for his big heart, whimsy humor, large personality, and infectious smile. He really enjoyed cracking jokes and making everyone laugh; but he also had a way of making his family feel protected and safe.

Paul leaves to mourn his passing, his four living children and six grandchildren Ereion, Ryan, Jaylon, & Haven (Oklahoma City), Zara & Zyana (New Jersey), one great grandchild Andre (Oklahoma City). Brothers: Randy, Ernest, Marvin, Daniel, Michael, Jerry, Walter, Matthew and Wanzetta his last living sister. A substantial number of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
