Obituary

Esther and Goldie Johnson were the parents of ten lovely children of which Marvin was the fifth child. They welcomed this "bouncing" baby boy into the fold and named him Marvin Lee. It was a challenge trying to keep up with him and his active lifestyle. Marvin Lee was still held to the Christian values that the family respected and followed. Like the rest of the children, he was also baptized in the First Baptist Church of Green Pastures in Spencer, OK.

Marvin attended Dunjee School in Spencer from grades one through twelve. He excelled in football and drama. At Langston University, he continued to participate in football. Even though he was dedicated to his education, he managed to be a true "workaholic." He worked during his college years and maintained a strong work ethic throughout his career and even in his retirement.

During his matriculation at Langston University, Marvin welcomed his son Johnathan who inherited his father's propensity for athletics. While at Langston, Marvin met and married Grace Sypert from Shawnee, OK. They were blessed with a daughter, LaShan. Marvin made education his career by joining the Kansas City, Missouri School District in a variety of roles throughout his career: Elementary Physical Education Teacher and Coach for NE Middle School, Horn High School, and Lincoln High School. He coached both junior varsity and varsity.

Finally, Marvin was able to retire from education-not in the sense that one would consider. He retired to the action that he loved: FISHING! Yes, while working with students, he had limited time to fish. After retiring, he became a Professional Bass Man. He was able to devote his time to fishing and had a house full of trophies to prove that he was an expert.

Marvin was dearly loved by family and friends and certainly will be missed. He leaves a true family tribe to remember him. Included in this list of loved ones are his daughter LaShan; son Jonathan Delce (Karen); grandson Johnathan "L.J."; Parents: Esther and Goldie Johnson (both deceased); Siblings are as follows: Gloria Joan Johnson Pollard (Arthur-deceased); Gilbert Leon Johnson (deceased)/Jimmie Lee Smith Johnson; Esther Johnson, Jr. (deceased); Michael Johnson/Marilyn Johnson (both deceased); Reta Diane Johnson Crosby/Darryl (deceased); Stanley Eugene Johnson (deceased)/Doris Johnson; Leslie Maurice Johnson/Ellean Johnson; Kerry D. Johnson (Atsuko); Donna Elaine Johnson Robinson.
