Lizzie Mae Metcalf was born August 21, 1933, to Benni and Mary Jane Gist in Haskell, OK. Lizzie attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church and accepted Christ at a very young age. She united in marriage to Allen LeRoy Metcalf in 1952 and to this union four children were born.
Lizzie was an educator with the Oklahoma City Public School District for 35 years. Her dedication and love for children blossomed into her summer career as CETA youth program instructor for many years. In addition, Lizzie was an Entrepreneur. Her side hustles were selling custom-made bras, cookware, vitamins, and Avon.
Lizzie was a faithful and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Hicks Addition where she served as an usher and choir member. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, cooking, and traveling as often as her schedule allowed. In addition to her love for God, she enjoyed family reunions with her siblings.
Preceding her in death, her parents, Bennie and Mary Gist, her husband Allen Metcalf, four sisters, four brothers and two grandsons Keddrick Johnson, and Antoine Metcalf, and one great-grandson Keon Johnson.
She leaves to cherish four children, Alice Jones (Kenny), Tony Metcalf (Olena), Michael Metcalf (Mae-Mae), and Sheila Bell (Clarence); one sister, Peggy Ann Gist, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and her lifelong friend, Mrs. Willa Allen
