LaShanta Michelle Avery was born February 15, 1976 to Larry and Debra Avery. She graduated from Del City High School in 1995. LaShanta received her bachelor's degree from Oklahoma University and received a Masters in Business from Southern Nazarene University. LaShanta, also known as "Shanta" or "Nae Nae Shan," accepted Christ at an early age.  She was beloved wife who adored spending time with her family and friends.

LaShanta fulfilled her dreams by becoming a member of Delta Sigma Theta and traveling across the United States while working for MDVIP as an EHR Optimization Specialist. LaShanta never met a stranger and made "best friends" everywhere she went. Her laugh was infectious and she truly found a place in the hearts of everyone whom knew her.

LaShanta leaves behind her wife, Melody Brewer, Step sons Barry Brewer, Aaron Brewer and Geordan Brewer, Mother, Debra Avery, Grandmother, Lucy Mae Austin, Brother, Dwayne Avery, Sister in Law, Jodie Avery and a host of family, friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Avery.

Now I'm Gone

When I come to the end of my journey and I travel my last weary mile, just forget if you can, that I never frowned and remember only the smile. Remember I fought some hard battles and won at the close of day. Then don't grieve for my going, I would not have you sad for a day...

But in summer just gather some flowers and remember the place where I Lay. Come in the shade of evening when the sun paints the sky in the west stand for a few moments beside me and remember only my best.
