Kim Jerome
Smith Sr.
Oct 2, 1962 — Aug 2, 2023
Kim Jerome Smith Sr. was born October 2, 1962 in Oklahoma City, OK to Ernestine Smith, and the late Charles D. Smith Sr.. He was the tenth of their children raised in Spencer, OK where he was introduced to Christ at a early age. Throughout childhood and some adulthood, he was a faithful member of The Lily of The Valley Church of God in Christ.
In his youth, Kim enjoyed playing little league baseball at Kringlen Park where many games were won. But, it was those family games where the boys lost to the girls that upset him (girls were not supposed to win). His love of sports continued in high school where he played baseball, football, and wrestled. After graduating in 1980 from Star Spencer High School he continued his education at Rose State College to later become a medical Equipment Technician up until his passing. For more than thirty years, he extended his duties of patient care to include a listening ear and a helping hand.
Kim was a strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. At home or in travel, cable news was a never-ending cycle from him. He was always up to date on current events and had a legal mind set. On the other side was "a boy and his toys" when it came to cars followed by his enjoyment of sports and travel. Lifelong "brother" friends were often in his presence chopping it up about "back when" and laughing for hours. But, his greatest love was for family where throughout his house are pictures of years gone past and today are displayed.
On August 2, 2023, when God called him home, he left to mourn his passing a devoted mother Ernestine Smith Wilson, eight children- Brandi Ridley (James), Kimberli Walker (Larry), Kim Jerome Smith Jr., Laila Fields Smith, Aliyah Smith, Isaiah Smith, Universe Winkfield Smith; six grandchildren- Shaniya Tate, Larry Walker Jr., Khloe Walker, Savannah Ridley, James Ridley, Ellie Grace Smith; nine brothers and sisters- Edna Smith, Deborah McCurdy, Brenda Fields (Marcellus), Patricia Calbert, Charles Douglas Smith Sr., Sheryl Dewberry, Cassandra Smith, Bruce Smith (Beverly), and Gregory Smith. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends will forever remember him for all the love he gave individually and collectively.
