Esther Smith was the first child born to Elbert ED Dempsey and Delphia Wilson Dempsey in Springer, Oklahoma on January 27, 1937. 
Esther Smith received her formal education at Berwyn Elementary and Lincoln Consolidated High School in Woodward, Oklahoma. 
She attended OIC Junior College and Oklahoma City Southwestern College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 
Esther Smith is preceded in death by her mother Delphia Wilson Dempsey, and her father Elbert E.D Dempsey.
sons, Christopher Edwin Smith, and Jonathan Malcolm Smith, grandson Micheal Lee Smith, one sister Gertie Braggs,
four brothers Monroe, Thomas (T.J.) Elmer Dempsey, and Curtis Thompson.

Her Brother Arthur Charles Dempsey of Los Angeles, California, eleven grandchildren in Houston, Illinois and Oklahoma City. 
Six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews in Ardmore, Oklahoma City and Los Angeles.
