Obituary

Dorothy L. Harding fought a good fight and went to meet the Lord on Friday, June 16, 2023, in the comfort of her home. She was born on December 26, 1928 in Oklahoma City, OK to Lewis and Sophia Beard. She attended Dunbar Elementary and St. Peters Academy in Dallas, TX.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Arvon Milton Harding in 1952, who preceded her in death after 65 years in marriage. Her parents, one son, Arvon Milton Harding Jr., one sister, Marquerite Knight and two great-grandsons, Tee'Shawn and Deon Harding also preceded her in death.

Dorothy gave her life to Christ at a very early age and was a lifelong active and faithful member of the now Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church. She united under the pastorage of the late Reverend E.R. Neal. She was one of the eldest living members of Greater Mount Olive and remained and attended services regularly until her health failed. She served in many roles to include President of the Adult Usher Board and as the church nurse for numerous years.

Dorothy attended nursing school at OU where she studied to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse and graduated at the VA Hospital. She retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 30 years of service. She enjoyed camping and traveling across the United Stated with her late husband in their RV.

Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and nothing came before her family. She leaves to cherish her memory one son Phillip J. Harding Sr., one daughter Regina L. Harding, both of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren; Shawntee Harding-King (David) of Hampton, VA; Phillip Harding Jr. (Clover) of Oklahoma City, OK; Sean Smith (Lisa) of Enid, OK; one sister, Walletta Butler of Edmond, OK; one brother, Wesley Gresham (Darlene) of Grand Prairie, Texas; two very dear cousins; Verena Hooks of Dallas, TX, Virgil Smith of Edmond, OK; two great-grandsons; David Jr. and Phillip King of Hampton, VA; and honorary daughter, Jackie Gabriel of Oklahoma City, OK.
