Darla
Smart
Mar 21, 1938 — Dec 22, 2022
Darla Sue "Curtis" Smart was born on March 21, 1938 in the small town of Cresent, OK to the late Charlie and Armetha Curtis. She was the eighth child of ten. Darla affectionately known as Dollie Sue by her family and friends, accepted Christ at a early age and received her early education at Douglass High School in Cresent, OK graduating in 1956.
In 1956 Darla married the late Raymond Smart. Through this union two children were born. Vicor Leroy (deceased) and Jocelynn "Quita." She also raised five of her nephews. In the early 70s Darla became a member of the Holy Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Reginald Leffall and was a devoted member of the Royal Host Christian Ministries.
Throughout the years she continued her education, where she received her certification for Early Childhood Development. Darla had a great compassion for the youth and children. In 1978 she started her own in-home daycare; it was the first in-home daycare in Midwest City. Darla, also known as Dollie Sue started it primarily because she did not like how the daycare system was ran her granddaughters attended. She operated and continued her in-home daycare for over thirty-one years.
Darla Sue Curtis Smart's earthly work was finished when she transitioned to her heavenly home on December 22, 2022. She was preceded by her son, Victor Leroy, parents, Charlie and Armentha Curtis, two sisters; Elemerine Lewis and Joyce Reid, five brothers; Eddie C., Darnell, Charles and Verline Curtis and grandfather, Janelda Moore.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter; Jocelynn Childs (Tim), one granddaughter; Sh'meya Moore, two great-grandsons; Pirrucello Leake and De'marreo Felder, one sister; Mell Johnson, one brother; Herve Curtis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
