Joy Comes in the Morning

"…weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning."
– Psalm 30:5

As painful as this feels, we can experience joy that comes from Jesus.  The word of God reminds us in Psalm 116:15 when it says "Precious in the sight of God is when His children come home."  This is not goodbye, its see you later.

We will rejoice in this tough time.  We will miss you, but we will praise the Lord for your life.  We are reminded of the faithfulness of God, when we remember His words to us... "We may grieve for a moment, but joy comes in the morning."

Thank you God for blessing us with the life of our loved-one.

On October 20, 1940, God designed a beautiful baby girl and He gave this baby to Alma C. Napoleon - Davis and Julius
Zeigler in Boley, Oklahoma. She was the seventh child to this union. Chris grew up in Jones, Oklahoma and attended Rose Hill Grade School and graduated from Jones High School in 1958. Early in life, she decided to serve the Lord, and united with Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She served faithfully and worked diligently under the teaching of many Pastors: Rev. Bates, Rev. Ford, Rev. Anderson and Rev. Willie Boone, Sr. and presently Emeritus Henry L. Hunter for many years.  She loved hanging out with her sisters and thoroughly enjoyed life, always bringing joy and laughter to everyone she knew. She was kind, loving and a generous woman that you could not help but love her back. She had a trademark of sharing sweets and was never to be without her basket full of "Goodies" and loved to share with everyone. She would spend time with those in the nursing centers, and she never had to know them personally to serve them, especially, when their own family was not there to spend time with their loved ones.

Chris was a hard working women who didn't mind getting out and working, never lazy, and worked for many years until she retired from Edmond Hospital, Edmond, Oklahoma.

Little did we know she was preparing herself to leave her earthly home. On Tuesday morning June 23, 2020, she crossed over to her new home. As the Heavenly Gates began to swing open, she was cheered in by her parents, 7 siblings, paternal grandparents, and maternal grandparents and others who were happy and eager to see her coming to join them for eternal life.

Chris is leaving behind those who will remember her, her husband: Oscar E. Patton of Spencer, OK, her son: Fred Leon Smiley, Jr. (Vickie) Oklahoma City, daughter: Denise R. Lewis (Kerry Don) Oklahoma City, her grandson: Jason M. Smiley, Sr. (Markeshia), Oklahoma City, her granddaughter: Mariah Christena Smiley, Wichita, KS, two great grandchildren: Jason M. Smiley, Jr. and Mya L. Smiley both of Oklahoma City, daughter-in-law Debra Ann Smiley, Wichita, KS, two sisters: Mattie J. Smiley, Oklahoma City, and Ernestine D. Pollard (Charles), Edmond, OK, three sisters- in-laws: Lola King, (Johnny) Oklahoma City, Delores Ford, Colorado Springs, and Evelyn Banks (Calvin), Sacramento, CA; one brother-in-law: Steven Hamlin of Guthrie, OK. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many-many other relatives, church family, and friends.
