Obituary

On November 28, 1953 a happy baby girl Carol Diane Sampson-Hawkins aka "Debo" was born to Winnie Lee Hines and George Sampson in Monroe, LA. She was one of the youngest of ten kids. Carol attended Carroll High School in Monroe, LA. Carol along with her brothers and sisters attended Zion Springs Baptist Church with her parents. Carol accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Zion Springs Baptist Church.

Carol met her husband Thurmond Ray Hawkins and to this union two children were born. Together Carol & Thurmond raised one daughter, Stephannia  Hawkins and one son Jermaine Hawkins. Carol was very big on family. She loved her family and they meant the world to her. Carol will forever be remembered for who she was. She created so many laughs and memories just being herself. Her favorite hobbies were casino and/or bingo, beating people up. Her favorite saying was, "I'll bust your head to the white meat". She worked at nursing homes and in housekeeping. Carol loved to travel, laugh and eat. It was never a time you would not see her eating. Her favorite food was wings; anytime she knew someone had wings she made sure she got some.

On December 1, 2022, Carol gained her wings and went to be with the Lord. No more pain, suffering, or heartaches. Her job her on Earth was complete. She was preceded in death by her parents, Winnie Lee Hines and George Sampson; daughter, Stephannia Hawkins; five siblings (oldest to youngest) Gloria Taft, Billy Charles Sampson, George Sampson Jr., Tommie Sampson and Reita Matthew.

Carol leaves to Cherish her memory her husband, Thurmond Hawkins; son, Jermaine (ShaRondia) Hawkins; grandchildren; Andrea Davis, Derrick (Deborah) Hawkins, LaTesha Hawkins, Auyana Hawkins, Hawkins, Thurmond Hawkins Jr., Tremayne Hawkins, Javion Hawkins, Amani Dozier, Jaziana Davis, Aniyah Jones, Marquis Vardiman Jr., DaShonn Myers, Anthony Threatt, Samuel Myers, Le'Ontaye Myers; four siblings, Margie Osbury, John Sampson, Sherry Ann Cox-Robinson, Melissa Sampson and a host pf nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
