Obituary

Arthur Ellsworth Finch Jr. was born in Lawton, OK on November 22, 1952, to the proud parents, Arthur E. and Gladys Patterson Finch. His dad was a military veteran, and his mom was a schoolteacher. His siblings were Florence Ann Finch, Mary Ethelyne Crawford, and William Gerald Henderson. Raised as his siblings were his nieces Elaine Crawford and Cynthia Crawford McDougall.

Squeaker, as he was fondly called, received his elementary and junior high education at Lawton Douglas School where his grandfather was the first principal. After the school closed due to integration, he attended and graduated from Lawton High School in 1970. Following high school graduation, his love for the arts blossomed. He received a B.A. Degree in Art Education at Langston University. While a student at Langston University he followed his brother and joined the Beta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Squeaker has shared his artwork with his family and friends. All of his work showed his mastery of the profession. He even exhibited his work at an art showing at the Owens Studio in Guthrie, OK.

Family time was always important. After residing many years in northern California, he returned to Oklahoma City to help care for family memebers. He decided to make Oklahoma City his home and be with family. In his own unique way, he made each relative feel special. Squeaker was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Mary Ethelyne Crawford. He is survived by his sister, Florence Ann Finch of Tulsa; brother WM. Gerald (Joyce) Henderson of Oklahoma City, OK; niece/sibling Elaine Crawford of Rock Hill, SC; niece/sibling Dr. Cynthia Crawford McDougall of San Bernadino, CA; nephews: Robert (Maya) Finch of Tulsa, OK, Kevin Henderson (Tasha) of Oklahoma City, OK, Kelly Henderson of Oklahoma City, OK, Ronald Crawford of Lawton, OK, Ryan (Megan) Pagan of Charolette, NC; nieces Dr. Tiffany (Derwin) Pagan-Cox of Charolette, NC; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
