Life Legacy
Vernon Lee Mukes was born July 30, 1939 to George Washington Mukes and Clementine Rainger-Mukes in Carney, Oklahoma. Vernon graduated from Dunjee High School in 1959, and was a member of the football team. After graduating high school, Vernon was drafted into the United States Army, after his tour he received an Honorable Discharge. Vernon attended Langston University and Oklahoma Christian College. Vernon had an illustrious career at Tinker Air Force Base as an Electrician, and he retired after 38 dedicated years.
Vernon had a number of different hobbies and talents. He was the epitome of a handyman, and if it was broken, he could fix it and if it needed to be built, he could build it.
His greatest accomplishment was the love and compassion he shared. Vernon and Doris were married for 45-years until his passing. To Vernon and Doris union three children were nurtured and shaped through this union. Also a previous union blessed Vernon with his eldest son.
Vernon is survived by his wife Doris. Children, Vernon George, Carl F. Kemp, Jr. Alonza (Tammy) Kemp, Alphonso (Renee) Kemp, and Nicole Mukes. Three brothers, Leon Mukes of Detroit, Michigan, Allen (Ernestine) Mukes of Spencer, Oklahoma and James Mukes of Oklahoma City, OK. Eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and many friends.
